Baseball
Team Drops Fourth Straight At Oglethorpe
The Piedmont College
baseball team was unable to find their first victory of the season this
evening in Atlanta, GA as host Oglethorpe University handed the Lions
a 1-0 shutout victory. Despite notching seven hits and playing error-free
the Lions could not overcome a second inning run and lost their fourth
straight game to start the season.
Oglethorpe scored
the only run of the game in the bottom of the second inning on a one
out sacrifice fly which proved to be the game-winner. The Lions used
five pitchers and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven
Stormy Petrel hitters.
Evan Nissley led
the Lions offensive going 2-4 from the plate while Matt Devito went
1-3 with a walk. Justin Vorherr, Trey McCay, Travis Hunt and Cole Spedale
also added a hit apiece.
The loss moves Piedmont
to 0-4 overall. The Lions will start a 19-game homestand tomorrow, February
17th as they host NC Wesleyan College, currently ranked 7th nationally,
beginning at 1:00.
