Maryville Snaps Women's Basketball Team's Six-Game Winning Streak
The Piedmont College women's basketball team had its six-game winning
streak snapped this afternoon with a 66-50 Great South Athletic Conference
loss at Maryville College. The loss drops Piedmont to 15-7 overall and
9-2 in conference play.
Maryville
went on 16-5 run after the Lady Lions held their only lead of the game
with the first bucket of the game. The Lady Lions connected on only
7-28 shots from the field in the first half, including 1-9 from behind
the tri-fecta. With 11 minutes to go in the second-half PC cut the lead
to 38-36 but could get no closer as MC finished the game on a 28-14
run to seal the victory and the regular-season conference championship.
Yetta Bailey led
three Lady Lions in double-figures with 15 points while Beth Adcock
and Sarah Lane added 13 and 10 points respectively. Nikki Sosebee narrowly
missed a double double with eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Lady Lions will
return to the hardwood again on Wednesday, February 14th as they finish
the regular season at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA beginning at
6:00.
