Women's Basketball Team Extends Winning Streak To Six
In its final home game of the regular season the Piedmont College women's
basketball team extended its season-best winning streak to six games
with a 76-62 victory over visiting Great South Athletic Conference opponent
Huntingdon College. The Lady Hawks, who handed PC their only conference
loss thus far, were held to a mere 31% from the field compared to the
Lady Lions impressive 42% from the floor.
The victory moves
Piedmont to 15-6 overall and 9-1 in the GSAC. HC drops to 7-15 overall
and 3-6 in conference action.
The first half featured
six lead changes and the Lady Lions entered the half with a slim 34-31
lead. PC then went on a 16-4 run to open the final half and extended
their lead to as many as 22 before coasting to the 14-point victory.
Sheena Trimiar led
four Lady Lions in double-figures with 17 points. Yetta Bailey was dominant
on both ends of the floor nothing a double-double of 12 points and 10
rebounds along with a game-high five blocks. Lisa Jennings added 11
points including 3-6 from behind the tri-fecta while Beth Adcock added
10 points and a game-high nine assists.
Huntingdon was led
by Patsy Slater who notched a double-double of 20 points and 19 rebounds,
both game-highs. Lori Bonds also reached double-figures with 15 points.
