Men's Basketball Team Rolls Past Southeastern Bible 98-69
Using a season-high 65 first half points, the Piedmont College men's
basketball team defeated visiting non-conference opponent Southeastern
Bible College this afternoon in Cave Arena by the score of 98-69. The
Lions shot an impressive 50% (40-80) from the field and forced 32 turnovers
en route to the 29-point victory.
Jake Baldwin led
four Lions in double figures with a team-high 21 points. Mike Adams
hit a pair of tri-fectas on his way to 16 points while Michael Rubio
and Branden Mayweather notched 10 points apiece. Wesley Parker added
a game-high five steals while Tyler Whitlock added a game-high eight
assists.
Ryan Smith led SBC
with a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds while Caleb Yoder
led all scorers with a game-high 26 points.
The Lions jumped
out to an 8-0 run to start the game and extended their lead 32 at the
end of the first half. In the second half Southeastern was able to cut
the lead to 25 but could not overcome the big deficit.
The Lions used a balanced attack as no player logged over 20 minutes
in the contest. Thirteen of the 14 dressed players found their way into
the box score as three different players scored season-high point totals.
The victory moves
the Lions to 10-9 overall. The men will return to action again on Tuesday,
January 30th as they host non-conference local rival Toccoa Falls College
in Cave Arena beginning at 7:00.
