Lady Lions Fall 74-63 At Sewanee
Despite converting on nearly half of their shots from the field the
Piedmont College women's basketball team fell at the hands of non-conference
host Sewanee - University of the South by the score of 74-63 tonight
in Sewanee, TN. The Tigers dominated the charity stripe converting on
28-34 free throws while Piedmont only went to the line six times for
the entire game.
After the Lady Lions
went on a 6-0 run to start the game, Sewanee charged back to even the
score 19-19 with nine minutes left in the first half. The Tigers went
into intermission on a 19-8 run and led by as many as 16 in the second
half before cruising to the 11-point victory.
Piedmont would not go away quietly as the Lady Lions used a 10-0 run
to cut the Tigers' lead to five (52-47) with 11:00 remaining.
Beth Adcock led
three teammates in double figures with 14 points. Sheena Trimiar added
13 points, five assists and three steals, both of which were game-highs.
Kayla Duncan notched 10 points while Nikki Sosebee added eight points
and a game-high six rebounds.
The loss drops PC
to 9-6 overall. The women will return to the court again on Friday,
January 26th as they travel to Great South Athletic Conference foe Wesleyan
College in Macon, GA with tip off slated for 6:00.
