Lions Fall 71-66 In GSAC Action At LaGrange
The Piedmont College men's basketball team had a chance to tie with
under twenty seconds remaining, but came up short as the Lions fell
71-66 at LaGrange College this afternoon in Great South Athletic Conference
action. The loss drops PC to 8-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The Lions posted season-worsts of 20 allowed offensive rebounds and
23 turnovers affording LaGrange to take 23 more total shots on the afternoon.
Piedmont used an early run to gain a nine-point advantage (26-17) with
just over five minutes remaining in the first half. The host Panthers
would answer with a 16-4 run of their own to take a 33-30 advantage
into halftime.
Piedmont would open the second half with a spirited 7-0 run to take
a 37-33 lead with both teams exchanging blows from their until the final
frantic minute of play.
Jake Baldwin led all scorers with a game-high 20 points and rounded
out his eighth double-double of the season with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Tyler Whitlock added 14 points and eight rebounds while teammates Mike
Adams and Branden Mayweather added 11 and 10 points respectively.
Piedmont will return to action on Monday, January 22nd when the Lions
travel to Sewanee, TN to take on the University of the South with tip
off set for 7:00 CST.
