Piedmont's Jake Baldwin Named GSAC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week
Piedmont College men's basketball player Jake Baldwin was honored this
morning by the league office as he was voted the Great South Athletic
Conference Player of the Week marking the second time this season that
the junior forward garnered the distinction. Baldwin averaged a double-double
of 21.6 points and 12.0 rebounds to lead the Lions to a pair of regional
road wins in three games.
The weekly honor was shared by Huntingdon College's Cole Hairston.
In a conference road win at Huntingdon, Baldwin netted 16 points and
five rebounds in limited action as the Lions snapped an eight-game winning
streak against conference opponents for the host Hawks.
On Saturday, Baldwin netted a game-high 32 points and 13 rebounds as
Piedmont pulled the upset at Christopher Newport University. CNU entered
the game with a 39-4 home record spanning three seasons.
On Sunday, he tallied 17 points and a season-best 18 rebounds in the
Lions' road loss at Methodist University.
Through 15 games, Baldwin is the league's leading scorer (24.3 ppg)
and rebounder (9.3 rpg) and is currently fourth nationally in scoring
in the latest NCAA-III national rankings.
