Huntingdon College Pulls Upset Of PC Women's Basketball Team
After controlling the first half and extending its lead in the second
half to as many as 16 points, the Piedmont College women's basketball
team fell to Great South Athletic Conference host Huntingdon College
by the score of 65-57 in Montgomery, AL. With just over six minutes
to play in the second half PC held an 11-point advantage which was quickly
vanquished as the Hawks went on a 24-5 run to end the game.
With two minutes
to go in regulation and the Hawks holding a slim 56-55 lead, Kayla Duncan
hit a layup to give the Lady Lions a one-point advantage. Huntingdon
was then able to score nine unanswered points including hitting five
of six from the charity stripe to ice the game.
Sheena Trimiar led
three Lady Lions in double-figures with 14 points and six rebounds.
Nikki Sosebee notched 11 poitns while Sarah Lane chipped in with 10
points. Lori Bonds led the Hawks with a game-high 16 points while Dusti
Doss added a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The loss drops Piedmont
to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the GSAC while the Hawks move to 4-9 overall
and an even 2-2 in conference action. The Lady Lions will return to
action again on Wednesday, January 17th as they host conference foe
Agnes Scott College in Cave Arena with tip off scheduled for 6:00.
