Drew Griffin Finishes Year As Nation's Leading NCAA Division-III Scorer
In
the final NCAA Division-III national statistics, Piedmont College men's
soccer player Drew Griffin stands alone at the top with a season average
of 1.71 goals per game. Griffin finished the season with 30 goals in
18 games and accumulated 48% of the team's total output for goals.
He also finished second nationally for points per game with a season
average of 3.76 per contest.
Griffin was named
the Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was instrumental
in leading the Lions to the GSAC Tournament championship. He recorded
the hat trick six different times and notched a team-best five game-winners.
Griffin was named the Great South's Player of the Week on two separate
occasions and recorded season highs of four goals in two consecutive
games this year.
