Piedmont Falls Cold Late In 87-79 Home Loss To Oglethorpe
In the second meeting of the season between the two schools, the Piedmont
College men's basketball team again fell at the hands of visiting Oglethorpe
University by the score of 87-79 tonight in PC's Cave Arena. In a game
that featured 14 lead changes and the score tied 66-66 with eight minutes
remaining, the Stormy Petrels were able to pull away from PC and record
the eight-point victory.
The loss drops Piedmont
to 4-6 overall while Oglethorpe improves to a 6-3 mark. The Lions will
return to action again on Thursday, January 4th as they host non-conference
opponent Pensacola Christian College with tip-off slated for 7:00.
In the first half
both teams were trading baskets and the lead but with time winding down
OU's Andrew Tulowitsky recorded seven consecutive points to enter intermission
with the score 50-50.
The game's second half features a more controlled pace with the Lions
holding the lead for the final time with seven minutes to go in regulation
before OU went on a 26-16 run to close out the game.
Tulowitsky had a
huge night notching 33 points while in the process going a perfect 11-11
from the field including 7-7 from behind the tri-fecta and 4-4 from
the charity stripe.
Senior Mike Adams
led PC with a team-high 32 points including seven three-pointers. Jake
Baldwin chipped in with 17 points while Tyler Whitlock added nine points
and eight rebounds. Wes Parker and Jake Green also contributed with
seven points apiece.
