The
Piedmont College women's basketball team capped off a perfect weekend
at the Methodist College Inn-Keeper I-95 Turkey Shootout this evening
with a 71-61 victory over the host Lady Monarchs. Piedmont was the only
team to win both contests in the four-team event.
Nikki Sosebee's layup just 1:39 into the game gave the Lady Lions their
first and final lead of the contest as Piedmont raced out to a 40-28
halftime advantage. Piedmont stretched its lead to 20 points in the
second half as Methodist would get no closer than 10 points.
Sosebee tallied a game-high 18 points while teammate Jammie Boyce added
a career-best 10 points on 5-6 shooting. Beth Adcock (pictured) added
seven points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. Piedmont outrebounded
Methodist 48-30 on the night including 24 rebounds on the offensive
end which resulted in 18 second-chance points.
For her efforts, Adcock was voted the tournament's Most Valuable Player
with Sosebee joining her on the All-Tournament team.
Piedmont returns to action on Thursday, December 1st when the Lady Lion
host Emory University with tip-off set for 6:00 in the Johnny Mize Athletic
