Honors Highlight NCCAA South Regional Weekend
Piedmont's Jacque DeMarrais
Earns 1,000th Career Kill
The
Piedmont College volleyball team won one of three matches in the 2005
NCCAA South Regional this weekend in Pensacola, FL. The Lady Lions defeated
tournament host Pensacola Christian 28-30, 30-20, 30-19, 30-22 but then
fell to Palm Beach Atlantic University 36-34, 30-18, 30-23 and Faulkner
University 30-24, 30-10, 30-25. Four different Lady Lions garnered personal
honors on the trip.
Jacque DeMarrais (pictured) earned her
1,000th career kill in the tournament opener. DeMarrais is the fastest
player in Piedmont College volleyball history to reach 1,000 kills.
Over the weekend, Ashley Landers accumulated
an average of 12 kills per match. Also chipping in for the Lady Lions
was B.J. Ostrzycki averaged over 32 assists per match.
Sarah Lane averaged over 10 kills per
match and Meghann Clark earned an average of over six kills per match.
For their efforts, DeMarrais, Landers, and Lane were each voted to the
NCCAA South Region All-Region Team while DeMarrais and Haylee Davis
garnered NCCAa All-Academic honors.
PC now stands at 18-12 overall and will
return to competition again on Saturday, October 29th as they travel
to Centre College in Danville, KY for the Centre College Halloween Bash
with the first round slated for 12:00.
