Wins Three Of Four In Final GSAC Weekend
The Piedmont College volleyball team won
three of four matches on the final Great South Athletic Conference weekend
hosted by Maryville College in Maryville, TN. The Lady Lions fell to
Maryville 30-28, 30-23, 30-19 but rebounded to win their next matches
against Wesleyan College, Agnes Scott College, and Fisk University in
straight sets.
PC finishes 11-3 in the GSAC which earns
them second place outright for the regular season. The Lady Lions will
enter the Great South Athletic Conference tournament as the #2 seed
on November 5th hosted by Agnes Scott College.
Sarah Lane led the Lady Lions by averaging
over 10 kills per game. Jacque DeMarrais added a weekend average of
9.5 kills per game and Ashley Landers added 8.25 kills per game.
B.J. Ostrzycki added a weekend average
of over 29 assists per game and Mandi Harmon averaged seven digs per
contest in the libero position.
PC now stands at 16-10 overall and will
return to action again on Tuesday, October 18th as they host Oglethorpe
University with first-serve slated for 7:00. The game marks the final
home match of the season for the Lady Lions.
