Piedmont Finishes Fifth in Guilford College Invitational

The Piedmont College volleyball team finished fifth in the Guilford College Invitational in Greensboro, NC as the team went won one of three non-conference matches. The Lady Lions fell in the opening round to host Guilford College 30-20, 30-24, 30-22 and then dropped the next match to Christopher Newport University 30-19, 30-19, and 30-18.

PC rebounded on Saturday to defeat Chowan College 32-30, 30-16, and 30-27 to finish in fifth place. Jacque DeMarrais led the Lady Lions by averaging 11 kills per match, and B. J. Ostrzycki averaged over 19 assists.

For her efforts DeMarrais was name to the All-Tournament 1st team. Mandi Harmon was named to the All-Tournament 2nd team for her play at the libero position.

PC now stands at 13-9 overall and 7-2 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lady Lions will return to action again on Friday, October 14th as they travel to Maryville College in Maryville, TN for the third and final GSAC weekend of competition.
