Lady Lion Golf Team Wraps Up 2005 Fall Season With Runner-Up Finish At 2005 The Orchard Fall Collegiate Invitational

The Piedmont College women's golf team continued its steady improvement as the Lady Lions posted a runner-up finish at the four-team The Orchard Fall Collegiate Invitational hosted by PC this afternoon at The Orchard Golf & Country Club in Clarkesville, GA.

Piedmont tied the new school record team score of 399 set earlier this fall at the Sewanee Fall Invitational. PC's Lynne Laseter and Maleah Kelly each earned top-10 finishes by carding 87 (+15) and 90 (+18) respectively. The scores marked new career lows for the freshman duo.

Jennifer Hewett and Sandi Tatum rounded out the Lady Lions scoring with a 105 (+33) and 117 (+45). Oglethorpe University's Paige McCollum was the tournament medalist with a four over par 76.

The tournament wrapped up a highly-successful fall season for a team that includes four freshmen and one junior. The team broke or tied the school record for single-round team score in each of their three rounds.

Eight-time defending NCAA Division-III National Champion Methodist College entered two teams of individuals in the event.

The team will return to action on March 24-26 when the Lady Lions participate in the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.
