Women's Soccer Edges Huntingdon College 2-1 In Overtime
The
Piedmont College women's soccer team edged Great South Athletic Conference
foe Huntingdon College tonight in Montgomery, AL by the score of 2-1
in OT. After trailing 1-0 at halftime the Lady Lions scored the equalizer
at the 55:00 mark and the game-winner nine minutes into overtime. The
win is the fourth consecutive for the PC women's soccer team.
Missy Hoffman earned both goals to lead
Piedmont to victory. Her first goal was finished off a cross from Ashley
Parker. The game winning goal came off a free-kick that was headed to
Hoffman from Erin Porter.
Michelle Holland (pictured) posted another
impressive performance in goal by saving 6 of 7 shots. The Lady Lions
capitilized on penalties and earned the edge in direct kicks 10-4. Katie
Wood earned two shots on goal, and Parker added three shots on goal.
The victory marks the first overtime contest
for Piedmont this season. The Lady Lion now stand at 6-2 overall and
4-1 in the GSAC. PC returns to action again on Saturday, October 1st
as they travel to league opponent Agnes Scott in Decatur, GA with game-time
set for 1:00
