Women's Soccer Defeats LaGrange College 1-0
The
Piedmont College women's soccer team earned a shutout victory over visiting
Great South Athletic Conference opponent LaGrange College on Walker
Field tonight by the score of 1-0. Bergdis Gudnadottir (pictured) netted
the game-winning goal on a long ball assist from Jammie Boyce at the
9:00 mark.
The Lady Lions were able to maintain their
1-0 halftime lead for the entire second half. Michelle Holland recorded
her second shutout of the season with three saves.
Piedmont controlled the ball for most
of the game and held the edge in shots on goal 12-3 and corner kicks
8-1.
Haley Boyce and Ashley Parker recorded
two shots on goal apiece and Michelle Shelton, Missy Hoffman, and Erin
Porter also recorded a shot on goal each.
The victory moves the Lady Lions to 5-2
overall and 3-1 in GSAC action. Piedmont will return to action again
on Wednesday, September 28th as they travel to conference foe Huntingdon
College in Montgomery, AL with kick-off set for 2:30 CST.
