PC Women's
Golf Team To Tee Off 2005-2006 Season
The
Piedmont College women's golf team will open up the 2005 fall semester
portion of its schedule on Tuesday when the Lady Lions host a team of
Piedmont College Faculty/Staff/Administration in a nine-hole match at
The Orchard Golf & Country Club. The team will officially kick-off
the season this weekend (September 24-25) when the Lady Lions travel
to Sewanee, TN to take part in the University of the South Fall Invitational.
This year's team is made up of six golfers with all but one entering
their first year of collegiate golf. The squad's lone returner is junior
Jennifer Hewett (pictured) who is a two-year letter-winner of the PC's
women's golf program. The remaining five golfers make up Coach Lee Glenn's
initial recruiting class and looks to be the foundation that the up-and-coming
program will be built around.
Lynne Laseter (Morgan County) and Maleah Kelly (Rockdale County) each
bring impressive resumes to the program as both won their respective
GHSA Region title last spring leading their high school teams to the
state tournament. Sandi Tatum (Lakes) comes to PC from Washington state
while Jessica Van Dyke (North Forsyth) will be a dual-sport athlete
as a member of the softball team. Rounding out the roster will be local
product Kenslei Krippner who anchored the top spot at Habersham Central
High School last season.
The Lady Lions will participate in three team rounds this fall ending
with a five-team tournament at The Orchard with Methodist College, the
University of the South, Georgia Southwestern, and Oglethorpe University
on Tuesday, October 4th.
