PC Netters Headed To Atlanta To Open 2005 Season

The Piedmont College volleyball team enters the 2005 season with raised expectations. After finishing 19-20 overall the young Lady Lions are eager to match up with their heavily-laden NCAA Division-III South Region schedule. Piedmont will compete in 25 matches against South Region teams, and are entered in four tournaments: the GSAC/SCAC Battle, the Emory University Invitational, the Guilford College Invitational, and the Centre College Halloween Bash.

P
iedmont will compete in 14 matches against the Great South Athletic Conference that consists of Maryville College, LaGrange College, Huntingdon College, Fisk University, Spelman College, Agnes Scott College, and Wesleyan College. These conference games are highlighted by the conference weekend hosted by Piedmont College on September 23rd and 24th featuring all eight Great South teams in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center.

Behind head coach Katie O’Brien (111-71 overall in five seasons) the Lady Lions are returning eight players from last year’s squad, including the lone senior Haylee Davis at setter. Returning with Davis are All-Conference team member Jacque DeMarrais (pictured) at middle hitter and 2004 All-Freshman team recipients B.J. Ostrizcki at setter and Ashley Landers at outside hitter. The three freshman newcomers to the volleyball program are Callie Keen, Ashley Chima, and Meghann Clark.

Piedmont travels to Atlanta, GA on Saturday and Sunday to take part in the GSAC/SCAC Battle with matches against the University of the South, Oglethorpe University, and Mississippi College.
