Meredith Ray Named GSAC Pitcher Of The Year
For the second consecutive year Piedmont
College softball ace Meredith Ray was named the Great South Athletic
Conference Pitcher of the Year for the 2006 season as announced this
afternoon by the conference office. Ray is currently 14-1 with a save
on the mound and is pitching at an impressive 0.87 ERA. She has also
tallied 97 strikeouts in 105 innings of work.
Joining Ray on the mound was freshman
Lindsay Drevlow who was also named as an All-Conference pitcher. Mandy
Fuston, May Alves and Emily Maxey were named as All-Conference players
and Drevlow and Leah Della Torre were named to the All-Freshman team.
Piedmont had a league-best eight players named to the GSAC All-Academic
team. Alves, Ashley Dunson, Fuston, Ashley Gragg, Marissa Harding, Emily
Maxey, Amanda Powell, and Ray each garnered the academic honor.
