Valentin Sigartau Named GSAC Men's Tennis Player Of The Year
Piedmont College men's tennis player Valentin
Sigartau was named the Great South Athletic Conference Men's Tennis
Player of the Year for the 2006 season. Sigartau was joined by four
teammates on the All-Conference singles team and two PC double teams
earned All-Conference doubles honors. Additionally, head coach Shane
Wood was named the GSAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year.
Joining Sigartau on the All-Conference
singles team were Matt Nash, Jake LeMaster, Mike Robertson and Joey
Leonardo. The tandems of Sigartau/Nash and Robertson/Leonardo were named
to the All-Conference doubles team.
Piedmont also had three players earn GSAC All-Academic honors in Leonardo,
Nash, and Sigartau.
The men will look to record their sixth
straight GSAC championship in as many years as they have been the only
team to ever win the league championship.
