Piedmont Finishes Tied For 12th At Emory University Spring Invitational

The Piedmont College men’s golf team showed continued improvement with a tie for 12th out of 15 teams at the prestigious Emory University Spring Invitational held a Smoke Rise Golf Course in Stone Mountain, GA. The 15-team field featured 12 teams ranked in the nation's top 30 NCAA Division-III teams.

The Lions carded a 36-hole total of 320-322--642 and finished in a tie for 12th with Greensboro College (currently ranked 12th nationally).

Piedmont's Matt Howell held the tournament lead after 18 holes after posting an even par 72 in the opening round. He finished Monday with an 80 and earned his 8th top-20 finish of the year.

Andy Cartwright continued his solid play with a two-over 74 on the second day after posting an 81 on Sunday.

Piedmont wraps up the 2005-2006 schedule on April 22nd with when the team travels to Danville, KY to take part in Centre College's Old Bridge Invitational.
