PC Drops Second Game Of Doubleheader With Emory 7-3
After winning the opener, the Piedmont
College baseball team fell to NCAA Division-III top-ranked #1 Emory
University this evening 7-3 at Loudermilk Stadium. The Eagles scored
all seven of their runs in the first five innings and were able to hold
off the Lions the rest of the way for the four-run victory.
Blake Thomas kept the Eagles at bay allowing
no runs over the final four and two-thirds innings. PC scored two runs
in the third and one in the seventh but could get trim the deficit to
less than four runs.
Cole Spedale led the Lions going 2-4 with
four stolen bases. Trey McCay went 2-3 with a run scored and Mike Santowski
went 1-4 with a double. Piedmont was able to swipe nine stolen bases
in the game.
The loss drops PC to 19-12 overall. These
two teams will complete the series in the rubber game tomorrow, April
9th as the Lions travel to Atlanta, GA for a 2:00 start.
