PC Extends Winning Streak To Five Games With 13-3 Victory Over Oglethorpe
Extending their winning streak to five
games, the Piedmont College baseball team defeated host Oglethorpe University
tonight by the score of 13-3 in Atlanta, GA. The Lions scored in six
different innings including five insurance runs in the top of the eighth
inning.
PC scored a single run in the top of the
second inning and never relenquished the lead. After taking a three-run
lead in the top of the fourth Oglethorpe answered with single runs in
the next three innings. The Lions scored three runs in the seventh,
five in the eighth and one in the ninth to cruise to the ten-run victory.
Leading the way offensively for Piedmont
was Brandon Hitch who went 2-5 with three RBI's and a run scored. Evan
Nissley went 1-3 with three runs scored and Mike Santowski went 1-4
with a two-run homer.
Freshman Andy Graf recorded his second
straight victory on the mound going seven innings allowing only one
earned run and striking out seven. Josh Berens and Andrew Rose threw
a scoreless inning of relief apiece.
The victory moves PC to 18-11 overall.
The Lions will be back in action again on Saturday, April 8th as they
host NCAA Division-III nationally-ranked #1 Emory University at Loudermilk
Field with game time set for 3:00.
