Piedmont Drops A Pair Of Games To Nationally-Ranked Ferrum
After halting game one and concluding
it this afternoon, the Piedmont College baseball team fell to non-conference
host Ferrum College 9-1 and 3-2. The Lions entered the conclusion of
game one in the top of the fifth down 2-0 but could not stop the Ferrum
offense who pushed across another seven runs.
In the second game PC rallied in the ninth
but fell one run short of tying the game. Ian McClary pitched a complete
game and recorded the tough luck loss allowing only three runs and scattering
10 hits.
For the day Cole Spedale and Walker Searcy
led the Lions offense with a pair of hits apiece. PC was able to steal
three bases and committed only one error but could not find a way to
edge their opponents.
The losses drop PC to 13-10 overall. These
two teams will square-off again tomorrow in the conclusion of the three-game
set. First-pitch is slated for 2:00.
