PC Snaps Three-Game Losing Streak With 11-4 Victory Over Oglethorpe
The Piedmont College baseball team snapped
a three-game losing streak tonight at Loudermilk Field as the Lions
defeated visiting Oglethorpe University by the score of 11-4. After
trailing 4-1 in the second inning, PC scored nine unanswered runs and
cruised to the team's 12th victory of the year.
Leading the charge offensively was Cole
Spedale, Travis Hunt and Walker Searcy who all recorded three hits and
scored a combined six runs. Mike Santowski went 1-3 with two hit by
pitches and an RBI and Trey McCay went 1-3 with two walks and a double.
On the mound Andrew Rose tallied his first
career victory for the Lions throwing four shutout innings of relief
and allowing only one hit and striking out four. Josh Berens pitched
a scoreless ninth and struck out the side.
The victory moves PC to 12-8 overall.
The Lions will take the field again tomorrow, March 22nd as they host
non-conference NCAA Division-III South Region opponent Virginia Wesleyan
College with game time set for 7:00.
