Piedmont Drops Series To Methodist With 15-7 Loss
In a slugfest that featured 32 combined
hits the Piedmont College baseball team could not overcome Methodist
College and fell this afternoon 15-7 in Fayetteville, NC. PC tallied
15 hits but committed three errors and allowed runs in all but one inning.
The loss marks the third straight for the Lions.
The Lions allowed single runs in the first
two innings but answered in the third to knot the game at two runs apiece.
In the next three innings the Lions allowed five runs and left the bases
loaded with no outs in consecutive innings. Despite four runs in the
final five innings, PC could not stop the Monarchs offense who scored
four insurance runs in the seveth.
Leading the offense for the Lions was
Andy House who went 3-3 with two RBI's. Blake Albertson, Mike Santowski
and Evan Nissley went 2-4 and Travis Hunt went 3-6 with two runs scored
and Walker Searcy, Justin Oates and Cole Spedale also recorded hits.
The defeat moves Piedmont to 11-8 overall.
The Lions will return home on Tuesday, March 21st as they play host
to Oglethorpe Unviersity with game-time set for 7:00.
