Methodist Uses Five-Run Sixth Inning To Defeat Piedmont 7-1
Behind a five-run sixth inning the Methodist
College baseball team defeated visiting Piedmont College this afternoon
by the score of 7-1 in Fayetteville, NC. The Lions allowed solo runs
in the first and third inning but it was the five unanswered runs in
the sixth that led to the loss.
On a day where hits were hard to come
by, MC capitalized on two Piedmont errors and four walks. PC was unable
to push a run across until the eight inning when Travis Hunt drove in
the lone run.
Billy Secor dropped his second game of
the year on the mound, his record now standing at 3-2 overall. Cole
Spedale, Blake Albertson, Tim Jones, Walker Searcy and Justin Oates
all went 1-3 accounting for all five of the Lions hits.
The loss moves PC to 11-7 overall. These
two teams will meet again tomorrow in the series finale with first-pitch
scheduled for 2:00.
