Millsaps Routs Piedmont With 17-Run Inning To Win 17-3
Using a 17-run fifth inning, host Millsaps
College overcame Piedmont College today in Jackson, MS by a final score
of 17-3. The Lions took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth but
allowed 17 runs including two grand slams en route to the loss.
Leading the way offensively for Piedmont
was Mike Santowski who went 2-3 with two stolen bases. Trey McCay chipped-in
with his first homerun of the season and Kyle Fronrath recorded his
first career RBI.
After scoring lone runs in the third and
fourth innings the Lions took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth.
In that inning the wheels fell of for Piedmont which used four pitchers
and allowed two errors, four walks, four hit batters and nine hits including
a pair of grand slams. PC scored in the seventh on McCay's solo homerun.
The loss moves PC to 6-5 overall. The
Lions return to action again on Thursday, March 9th as they host Edgewood
College and PC's Loudermilk Field with game time scheduled for 7:00.
