Bridgewater Snaps PC Four-Game Winning Streak With 5-4 Victory
In a closely contested game the Piedmont
College baseball team fell to visiting Bridgewater College this afternoon
5-4 at PC's Loudermilk Field. After leading 2-0 through six innings
the Lions allowed a three-run sixth, but responded to tie the game at
three apiece in the seventh before allowing two more runs in the eighth.
Despite a ninth inning rally, PC left the tying run at third base and
dropped the 5-4 decision.
Ian McClary pitched six-plus innings allowing
three runs on five hits and recorded a no-decision. The bullpen pitched
three complete innings allowing two runs on three hits and two walks.
Offensively the Lions were led by Andy
House and Mike Santowski who both went 2-4 with an RBI each. Justin
Oates and Cole Spedale also contributed by going 1-4 with an RBI apiece.
Matt Hale notched a pinch-hit single and Walker Searcy went 1-2 with
a run scored.
The loss drops Piedmont to 6-4 overall.
The Lions return to action again on Tuesday, March 7th as they travel
to NCAA Division-III South Region opponent Millsaps College in Jackson,
MS with game-time slated for 3:00 CST.
