Piedmont College Defeats Spelman 75-47 In GSAC Action
The Piedmont College women's basketball
team evened its Great South Athletic Conference record at 1-1 this evening
with a 75-47 league win at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. The Lady
Lions held their opponents to a mere 24% from the field en route to
victory.
Kayla Duncan led three Lady Lions in double-figures
with a team-high 13 points. Nikki Sosebee earned a double-double of
10 points and 10 rebounds while teammate Sheena Trimiar added six points,
nine rebounds, five steals and two blocks.
Piedmont never looked back from the start
and took a 41-15 lead into the half. While the Jaguars responded in
the second half the Lady Lions cruised to the 28-point victory.
The Lady Lions shot 42% from behind the
tri-fecta and recorded points from nine different players.
The victory moves PC to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the Great South Athletic
Conference. The women will return to action again on Saturday, January
7th as they host conference opponent Wesleyan College with tip-off slated
for 2:00 in PC's Johnny Mize Athletic Center.
