Jamie Childs Promoted To Head Women's Basketball Coach

GA - The
Piedmont College Department of Athletics has announced that
Jamie Childs has been promoted to the position of
head women's basketball coach effective immediately.
Childs fills the position which came open when the legendary
Charles Cooper unexpectedly passed away on Monday,
June 13th. Childs was hired on April 22nd as the
assistant women's basketball coach and head men's and
women's cross country coach.
The Piedmont College alum
returned to her alma mater from Middle Georgia College where
she has served as the head women's basketball coach for the
past two seasons.
In two seasons at Middle Georgia, Childs
recorded a career record of 31-21 (.596) and led her
2004-2005 squad to the Georgia Junior College Athletic
Association championship game.
Childs was the assistant women's basketball Coach at Abraham
Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) before beginning her coaching
career at Statesboro High School for two years while
attending Georgia Southern University.
Childs received her master's degree in Health and
Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Psychology from
Georgia Southern University and her bachelor's degree in
Psychology from here at Piedmont College.
While at Piedmont, Childs lettered in basketball for four
years under current head coach Charles Cooper and softball
for two years under current head coach Terry Martin.
Childs attended Statesboro High School in Statesboro, GA
where she was part of the basketball, softball, cross
country, and track teams throughout her high school career.
