"Down on Skid Row, where the food is slop... and the rainbow's just a no show," hapless Seymour Krelborn tends to the barren florist shop that has housed him for all of his orphaned life. Day in and day out, he works alongside his unrequited love, Audrey, until a total eclipse of the sun brings life to a carnivorous plant. Seymour is sucked into a blood-curdling scheme that promises him everything his heart desires but soon realizes that fame and fortune come at a cost in the "Little Shop of Horrors," Piedmont College's final production of the 2013-2014 season.

Directed by guest artist Kim Wheetley, former director of the Southeast Center for Education in Arts at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, "Little Shop of Horrors" is a dark comedy musical based on Roger Corman's low budget 1960s film of the same name. In similar stylistic fashion, this production will incorporate classic cinematic horror elements. "The audience for our production will be invited onto a movie set to watch the filming of the play. Conventions of theatre and film will merge as the story combines elements of horror and comedy," Wheetley said.

Guest director Kim Wheetley, left, works with Jacob McKee and Jessica Williams in a scene from the Piedmont College Theatre upcoming production of 'Little Shop of Horrors.'
