Works by Jessica Wohl at Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art through April 4.

A house is more than the objects it holds, says Tennessee artist Jesssica Wohl. A house holds the memories of the people who lived there long after they are gone. Wohl's artwork, now on display at the Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art at Piedmont College, reflects this idea by turning the exhibit space into a "home" with installations and found family photographs altered with stitched sunburst "masks."

Wohl's work will be on display now through April 4, with a reception to be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 4. The museum is located at 567 Georgia Street in Demorest and is open from 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Admission is free. (During sidewalk construction, please use back entrance.)

Originally from Minneapolis, Minn., Wohl received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2001 and her MFA from The University of Georgia in 2010. Originally trained as an illustrator, her current studio practice includes drawing, painting, collage, installation and performance. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues in New York, Miami, Atlanta, Kansas City, Nashville, Finland, Norway and Italy.

Wohl has taught at UGA, Maple Woods Community College, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. She currently lives in Sewanee, Tenn., where she is an Assistant Professor of Art, teaching drawing and painting at The University of the South.
