Piedmont presents Annual Lessons and Carols service
The Piedmont College Chorale presented its 23rd Annual Service of Lessons and Carols at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 2 and 3 in the chapel on the Demorest campus.
Directed by Lauren Ringwall, the ensemble was accompanied by organist Joy Hayner, Lumpkin County High School Varsity Singers conducted by Talmadge Smith, and the Piedmont Brass Quintet. Soloists included Piedmont music professors Andrea Price, soprano, and Jonathan Pilkington, tenor.
The Chorale, which is comprised of singers from the college and across northeast Georgia, performed works by Handel, J.S. Bach, Kent Newbury, Richard Proulx, and Johannes Brahms, along with traditional carols and hymns of the holiday season, during which the audience was invited to sing.
During the performance, Piedmont faculty and staff read lessons from the Bible, including excerpts from St. Luke, St. Matthew, St. John, Isaiah, and Genesis.
